Neßmersiel is an idyllic little coastal resort in the west of the Harlingerland with beach and harbor. From here you can go by ferry to the smallest of the East Friesian Wadden Islands named Baltrum or to the seal colonies. Neßmersiel is predestinated for excursions in the mudflats between the mainland and the islands Norderney and Baltrum nearby.

Neßmersiel is well known for its nice Frisian styled holiday homes and its nature especially the rare plants in the salt marshes. In the neighbor-hood is Dornum, a picturesque village dating back a thousand years. Dornum's baroque moated palace is the finest of its kind in East Friesland. Two other stately buildings are nearby, the Norderburg and the Beningaburg, they also reflect the grandeur of days gone by.
